I’m Tate Snellings, the artist and founder behind By Tate—a slow artwear brand rooted in storytelling, symbolism, and soul. I grew up in Atlanta as one of eight kids, surrounded by noise, movement, and the beautiful chaos of a big family. In that environment, I found comfort in quiet moments and a deep appreciation for symmetry, order, and softness—things that still shape my creative process today. I started making art in 2021, drawn to butterflies as both a visual and spiritual motif. To me, they’ve never just been beautiful—they’re messengers. Gentle reminders that we’re seen, guided, and always becoming. What started as butterfly canvases quickly turned into connection—people across the country began sharing their own stories of growth, grief, and transformation. That’s when By Tate was born: a collection of wearable and collectible pieces that honor the in-between phases of life. Every piece tells part of a bigger story. A reminder that where we are right now matters—and that none of us are moving through it alone.
